About Nellsar
Our aim is to provide the highest level of care possible – by enabling our staff to be the best they can be. Internal promotion is one of the biggest indicators within a company that staff are valued and that the company is prepared to invest and develop them. Fewer changes in the staff team equals continuity of care – a major factor in keeping our residents safe, happy and contented

A special thank you from Nellsar
Nellsar Care Homes would like to thank everyone for their endless support throughout what has been one of the most difficult times in recent history. We couldn’t have predicted the COVID-19 pandemic and we are overwhelmed by the resilience of our staff and our relatives’ understanding through the challenges we have faced. We are so grateful to our local communities who generously donated their gifts and services; but most of all, we want to thank our residents for facing these changes with us and for keeping us smiling.

The Magic of Christmas at Nellsar
(Made in 2020) After all the major challenges of 2020, Nellsar Care Homes are on a mission to bring the joy of Christmas to our residents. From fabulous trees and decorations to German style markets and making mince pies, residents can look forward to a festive season full of fun and celebration. With carol singing in the courtyard or a visit to Santa's home-grotto, our staff are going above and beyond to keep the magic alive this Christmas.
Cosmin, Head Chef at Princess Christian Care Home
“My name is Cosmin Cristea and I work as a the Head Chef here at Princess Christian. Having started working at the Home in 2015, I first began working as a Kitchen Assistant, and progressed to Chef Assistant, then Chef, before being promoted to Head Chef.

I have completed many training programmes over the years including an NVG Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Food Production and Cooking, Level 3 Supervising Food Safety in Catering, and all the required in-house training courses for my catering roles. I started a Level 5 Management course and I look forward to resuming the training soon, having been interrupted as a result of the pandemic.

What I most enjoy about my job as Head Chef is having the opportunity to cook for our residents and guests; seeing the satisfaction on everyone’s faces really makes me happy. Cooking and baking has become my number one passion which encourages me to carry on and develop and learn new flavours and recipes.

Working very closely with my team, I have seen many positive changes take place over the years. Many members of the Catering Team have started to develop, including enrolling onto NVQ and Nutrition Courses. The knowledge we have now, working as a team, is reflected in the quality of our residents’ meals. We’ve achieved a five-star food hygiene rating, we consistently create new menus, and we are proficient at creating menus for residents with special dietary requirements.

Our Head of Catering, Adrian Silaghi, has been a great support to me since I began working at Princess Christian back in 2015. He has always believed in me and has been a great help. Our Registered General Manager, Mario Taherian, has also consistently encouraged and supported myself and the Catering Team in new ideas and projects.

I am very proud of myself for having achieved so much in my time at Princess Christian – my professional qualifications and the recognition from our residents that they enjoy the food we prepare for them. I am also proud of my “Cooking with Chef Cosmin Club” where, together with residents, we cook together every Friday. They love to share stories and memories about cooking at home, and they enjoy sharing recipes with me. Working closely with our Activities Team, “Cooking with Cosmin” has become something we all look forward to and that brings me great joy.

Working with my wonderful Kitchen Team is a privilege. They are very keen and open to learning new skills; they trust and follow me with an open mind, whilst also developing their knowledge.

My future aspirations include restarting my Management NVQ, and elevating our catering provision to a whole new level with new menus, and new puréed, minced and moist options for our residents with special requirements.

The best aspect of working as part of such a great team at Princess Christian is having the opportunity to make a difference to a person’s life. Being able to bring a smile to someone’s face, and to work in a collective with so many different cultures, traditions backgrounds, makes for a very interesting work life. There is a lot to discover and learn from each other if we are open to listening and sharing our knowledge.”
Ionela, Senior Healthcare Assistant at Princess Christian Care Home with a resident
“I joined the team at Princess Christian in February 2016, and I was very happy with this opportunity. Having started as a Carer, I am now a Senior Carer and I love the work I do! I hope that all my training and experience can be useful to all the beginners who join our team.

During my time here, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to finish my NVQ Level 2; I have now started to work towards my Level 3 and I am also part of the Dementia Champions programme. I feel very supported in developing my skills.

Every day for me is a happy experience with my family. I’m very proud to be part of the team and working at Princess Christian. I feel the management team is very supportive and always flexible.”
Marina, Senior Recreation and Well-Being Lead at Woodstock Residential Care Home, cooking with a resident
“Hello, my name is Marina Foreman. I am the Senior Recreation and Well-Being Lead at Woodstock Residential Care Home and I started in December 2016. I’m very proud of completing multiple training courses over the years, including Mental Health Level 3, the Care Certificate, Advanced Course Dementia, NVQ Level 2 in Principles of Dementia and Virtual Dementia Tour.

I passionately believe meaningful activities are the key to good mental health and well-being. I believe that everyone has a value and I want to support people to lead their best possible lives. My job role allows me to bring smiles to people’s faces and seeing the residents having fun, laughing and enjoying themselves makes me happy. It gives me great pleasure to know that I’m making a difference. I am also very proud of getting Woodstock in the newspaper and the good feedback I receive from families about the Activities that we provide at the Home.

Over the years, Activities has become more widely recognised as a very important part of care for our residents’ well-being. Nellsar and the team I work with at Woodstock are very supportive with my ideas and helping me to achieve my goals and bring activities to the Home.”

Libby, Manager at Meyer House Care Home
“I started working at Meyer House in September 2019 when I was appointed as a Deputy Manager, and was proudly promoted to Home Manager in September 2021. Having started as a Student Nurse, I have been working in the Adult Care industry for over 11 years and I’ve developed and grown professionally throughout that time.

As a leading care provider, I have found Nellsar that takes the professional growth and development of every member of their staff very seriously. Since I joined Nellsar, I have had the opportunity to undertake many professional and learning developments required for my clinical development, including NVQ Level 5, ACAS Conducting Investigations, Skills For Care (Well Led Course), Practice Assessor’s Course, Pressure Ulcer training, Grey Matter training and Clinical Skills for Care.

Being a Nurse, I am able to know my residents well and cater to their needs, which brings me immense joy. When I am able to bring a ray of hope, or a smile to my residents and their families’ faces, that’s the reward for me. Being a Nurse in India, we don’t get as many opportunities for learning and development, or as much support. Here, at Meyer House, I have been able to see and experience a variety of career opportunities and progression; I have been able to grow in my career and explore different job roles.

When I first joined, most of our notes and documentation was paper based and slowly we have transitioned over to the digital care planning tool, Nourish. This means we have been able to cater to the different nursing needs of our residents in a more efficient way. We always strive to provide the best care and support for our residents and their families, inviting their input and including other team members.

I have an excellent team at Meyer House whose prime focus is always our residents, who are the heart of our Home. My Senior Management team is very supportive and approachable. When I took over as Manager, I was overwhelmed by the care and support extended to me – everyone made me feel at ease and were always ready to guide me.

The best part about working with and leading a Care Home team is knowing that I am able to make a difference to a person’s life and I am one of the reasons my residents are smiling. We at Meyer House are a big happy family, who always stand up for each other and offer the support we need.”
