About Whittard of Chelsea
Our story began in 1886 when Walter Whittard set up his first shop on London's bustling
Fleet Street. Today, we're a global brand, remaining true to our founder's philosophy to
always 'buy the best'.

We believe in taking our customers on a journey of discovery – whether that's finding a
tea that zings up a dull Tuesday, a coffee to blow the cobwebs away, or a warm hug in a
mug of hot chocolate. And if there's one thing that Walter taught us, it's that the best
cuppas are the ones enjoyed together. That's why we're after passionate, generous and
adventurous people to join the Whittard family and make magic moments happen.
About Us
Our story began in 1886 when Walter Whittard first set up shop on London’s bustling Fleet Street selling the finest tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Over 130 years later, Whittard of Chelsea has become a global aspirational brand, but we remain true to Walter's approach of 'buy the best'.

We have continued to grow our business in the UK whilst expanding globally with e-commerce channels and a physical presence in Asia, Europe, South America and most recently, the US. We have an exciting growth plan, and if you’re ambitious, passionate and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, then this is the place for you.

We’ve been celebrating our luxury products for over 130 years so why not join the adventure and apply today.

Working In Our Stores
We have over 50 stores in the UK from Bridgend to Norwich and Exeter to Edinburgh. Each is designed to provide an immersive and engaging environment where passion for our products combined with great knowledge provide an unforgettable customer experience.

It's this immersive experience and personal touch that makes all the difference.

All new members of store management teams join office-based starters on a 2-day induction. This provides a greater understanding of the Whittard brand, our long-term goals and values as well as the opportunity to build relationships across the business. Oh, and you get to do a proper tea and coffee tasting session with one of our experts.
Working In Our Offices
Our main offices are based in Milton Park, on the outskirts of Didcot and we have a smaller office above our Oxford Street store in London.

The Milton Park office has great public transport links from London, and if you're driving, Oxford, Swindon, Reading and Newbury are all less than an hour's drive away. Our web team are based there along with all the support teams that are vital in making us a successful retail business; Buying, Merchandising, Finance, HR, IT, Marketing and Design.

Our B2B Sales team work out of our London office.

Both offices have well stocked kitchens with over 20 different teas, coffees and hot chocolates. These are free for all to enjoy throughout the day, the selection is changed regularly and we're all encouraged to try as many of our products as we can.

We’ve got a completely open-plan office, making it easy to share ideas, communicate and interact – even our CEO isn’t hidden away in his own separate office.

You can work in one of our offices every day if you wish to, but most of us split our time between working from an office and working from home.

We hold monthly social events as well as a Christmas party and a summer BBQ so you’ve got a chance to mingle with colleagues that you don’t usually work with day-to-day.

All new team members join our new store management teams on a 2-day induction. This provides a greater understanding of the Whittard brand, our long term goals and values as well as the opportunity to build relationships across the business. Oh, and you get to do a proper tea and coffee tasting session with one of our experts.
What We Offer
The best way for you to fall in love with our products is for you to try them, so we offer all team members two products completely for free each month and have a generous staff discount scheme across our entire range.

Working hard is something we expect from you but we’re also generous with our rest times. You get 30 or 33 days holiday per year and in many roles we’re able to offer you an additional day off so that you don’t have to come to work on your birthday.

All of us are eligible for bonuses and/or incentives so when Whittard does well, you’ll benefit too.

Spending time with your family is important, so we offer enhanced payments for all types of family leave.

We have trained Mental Health First Aiders and access to a wellbeing portal and counselling services for when you need some extra support.

There are plenty of opportunities for career progression with in-house training and development programmes; in the last 6 months over half of our Store Management vacancies have been filled as a result of internal promotions. But, even if you’re not looking for the next step up the ladder, we have plenty of Ambassador and Champion roles where your specialist skills and knowledge can be used to coach and support your colleagues.
Our Wider Community
We work closely with a range of trustworthy suppliers – and our relationships with them are crucial for making sure our customers get the best quality products, services and care.

We're a member of the Ethical Tea Partnership, which aims to create a more sustainable industry by offering free training and support programmes to farmers, as well as tackling significant industry issues to help safeguard workers' livelihoods.

We also donate to the Retail Trust, which provides free and confidential wellbeing services for employees and their families. Their helpline is available 24/7 and offers advice, information, counselling, legal guidance and hardship support.

We've recently introduced volunteering days for our office-base teams so we can give something back to our local communities.

our spirit of exploration and innovation. To be the best, we have to dare to be different.

We Work Together
What's more rewarding than effective teamwork? As well as helping our business
succeed, it helps us share our experiences, skills, successes and discoveries. It makes us
a global force for good, able to support the Whittard community and those whose
livelihoods depend on our products.
Testimonials
“I’ve recently joined Whittard from a much bigger business, and I can honestly say what a breath of fresh air it is to join a business that is genuinely collaborative and innovative, and that really puts their people first! It makes the world of difference when you are working alongside like-minded, passionate people who all have the same goal. It’s the people that make our business best in class, while (dare I say it) having a bit of fun in the process.”
- Rich Mason-Fowler, Learning & Development Manager

“Whittard is great at giving me opportunities to develop as an individual – it’s often hard to find these opportunities in a busy and reactive digital role. There’s lots of feedback encouraged here across all working levels, and the company clearly cares for its employees.”

- Sheila Tovey, E-Commerce Executive

"Every step of my employment with Whittard, has given me a new sense of how a company should treat their people, brand and customers. It's been a breath of fresh air in the way we are enabled and encouraged to interact with members of the team from sales assistant to CEO and as One Team. The family environment isn't a cliché here, its a reality and I am genuinely privilege to be part of it. The brand is strong, the product infallible and the people are outstanding.

Nearly four years after joining, I manage a very successful store, develop an amazing team, health and safety ambassador with an IOSH certificate and an extremely happy member of the workforce. I live by the company values in professional and personal life, and will continue to do so through the ongoing success of Whittard.

At Whittard, we don't have employees, we have friends and family!

- Reuben Smy (Store Manager, Norwich)

"Whittard embodies and works to maintain its values. For a company with such global standing, to respect and appreciate every single store manager, and even store team member is rare and this is what makes being a Whittard Store Manager so wonderful. Everyone is considerate towards one another, which empowers store managers to do the same for every member of staff and customer. We enjoy what we do. I have loved every minute of working for Whittard; everyday there is the possibility of learning something new and a chance meet/chat with staff and customers that share the same passion for the best quality tea/coffee/hot chocolate"

- Annelise Bennette, Store Manager Brighton
